"Green" Driving Machines

I'm all about saving and conserving our resources; every bus ride, recycled glass bottle and electric car can help the environment. Fortunately, it seems that several car companies think the same thing.

From GM to BMW to Rolls Royce, cars are going green.

This past January, BMW announced that they are doing everything they can to "go green." Realizing the benefits of going green, both financial and environmental, BMW has decided to create all their cars with more traction and fuel-efficiency.

Going a step further, Rolls Royce, in conjunction with "HaloIPT," revealed that they have developed a "test vehicle to explore alternatives to traditional internal combustion" March of this year. This "Phantom Experimental Electric vehicle" has the ability to charge "automatically when parked over transmitter pads buried in the ground" and it still works in snow, ice and other elements.

Though I don't see a Rolls Royce coming my way anytime soon, I still think that this is pretty cool. Check it out at: http://www.greenprogress.com/transportation_article.php?id=1765.

Last but not least, GM has decided to reduce the price of their plug-in hybrid Chevy Volt to less than 40,000. What I found to be so amazing about this car is that "the Volt runs for the first 35 miles on its battery and then a gas engine kicks in to run a generator to maintain battery charge." So as long as you keep gas in the car and keep it maintained, you shouldn't have to worry about being stranded on the side of the road.

What more could a girl (or anyone else) ask for?
